Found a nice $50 Nevada nugget

I haven't been out to Nevada as much as I've wanted recently, but was out this weekend doing a bit of exploring, and found this in a spot I had not tested before. It was found out in the desert some miles north west of Rye Patch. There was some dry washing in the ravines and I found it on a slope around 50 feet away from the old dry wash diggings. The weight is right at 1 dwt (or 1/20th of an ounce). Overall the weather was just beautiful.

It has a bit of the angular chevron form that northern Nevada is famous for, but its just not as well developed as the true chevron types. I have no doubt this spot could throw out some of the regular chevron variety - a number of the spots in Northern Nevada produce this type of gold.

Far out! Did you find the nickle there also? Maybe it is an old claim nearby.

Thanks guys. Finding your own gold out in the field is always a great experience.

The nickel is something I bought years ago. I've only found one buffalo nickel with my detector and it wasnt in nearly such nice shape. I put it in the pictures for scale - they are exactly the same size and weight as a modern Jefferson nickel.

Good find! Where there's one nugget there is usually more....

So I need to know where you're diggin'! :ok:
